JAMMIN JAY HALSEY has been in the movie biz for years. He usually organizes, preps and drives for most of the RC commercials you see on TV. On his latest shoot, Jay was able to showcase his own product, the Jammin X-1 CRT truggy. Here’s the premise: a couple of mad scientists steal a racers X1 so they can
reverse-engineer it and create their own, but the racer and his buddy break into
the bad guys’ warehouse lair, steal the truggy back and action ensues. Here’s a
look behind the scenes.
1 — before each take, the marker was clapped to signal a break in
the footage. The commercial was filmed with actual film, not digital
tape, using Arri cameras.
2 — for this shot, Jay had to drive the truck off of a near vertical
jump. He sent the CRT about 18 feet in the air before it headed back
to the ground.
3 — the mad scientists were trying to saw the truck in half just as
the heroes drove the truck off the table.
4 — here’s the big escape.
