HPI Cup Racer
William owns several RC vehicles, but because he
owns the real McCoy, none appealed to him more
than the HPI Cup Racer with Datsun 240Z body. His
1971 240Z packs a hot modified engine, so it only
made sense to give the RC version the same treatment with a potent Trinity 19-turn motor that he
controls with Spektrum radio gear.

This HPI Baja 5B turned 1941 Willys Rat Rod is one
of the coolest and most unique Baja 5B transformations we’ve ever seen. The short list of the hop-ups
includes a race-ported 28.5cc engine and Dominator
pipe from DDM Racing, Turtle Racing front shock
brace, tranny plate and clutch bell, RAMTech front
shock tower and rear springs, Luna Tik bumper,
DarkSoul Racing enclosed wheel nuts and axle extenders, Futaba 3PM radio system, Hitec servos, Golden
Horizons shock
braces and HPI
Tarmac Buster
tires with stock
wheels. The
body and faux
engine was
scratch-built by
Erick’s friend
Jake.
