TOP TIP
Body Crack Stop
MATT HAINES ❯❯ WOODSTOCK, GA
Lexan bodies often split at the
front wheel wells. If you’re out
racing and see a small crack
starting, drill a very small hole
at the end of the crack with
your body reamer. This will
prevent the crack from spreading and allow your body to get
through the race day without
needing to be replaced.
Tight nuts
STEVE HALL
❯❯ DALLAS, TX
Sometimes no matter how
much pressure you put on
the wheel nuts of your 1⁄8-
scale buggy or truggy, they
find a way to loosen while
you’re running. Put a small
dab of thread-lock on the
threads of the hex before
you install the wheel nuts.
You only need to use a
small dab and it will keep
the nuts in place.
No mess after-run oil
PETE DICKERSON ❯❯ PALM SPRINGS, CA
Attach about a 3-inch section of fuel tubing on the
tip of your oil container to prevent after-run oil from
making a mess when you pour it into your engine.
Place the open end of the tubing into the opening of
the carb or glow plug and then tip the bottle. This
will ensure the oil only goes where you want it and
not all over the engine or chassis.
Stronger
wrenches
RICK SMITH ❯❯
TRENTON, NJ
A lot of high-end Allen
wrenches use a setscrew to
secure the tip to the handle.
Over time, the setscrews can
loosen and need to be tightened. Remove the setscrew in
your wrenches and coat them
with medium-strength thread-locking compound before reinstalling them. This way, they’ll
stay tight.
Easy mirror
install
ROB MARIN ❯❯
BRISTOL, CT
It’s difficult to install
the mirrors on hard
plastic bodies such as
the Tamiya Jeep
Wrangler. The included O-rings that keep the mirrors from rotating are
very thick and it’s hard to
get the body clips installed.
Replace the O-ring with a section of fuel tubing. Then
you’ll have no trouble getting the body clips installed
since the fuel tubing is easy to compress.
