SCHUMACHER
Mi4LP
NEW GENERATION PRO TOURING CAR
WORDS & PHOTOS ROGER FREDERICO
TODAY’S PRO-LEVEL TOURING CARS represent some of the finest engineering found in RC,
and as such, in this highly competitive class, you would naturally expect a long and complex
build in which less than a millimeter will count when the car hits the track. But Schumacher has
never been concerned with the norm; starting with the popular Mi3 a few years back, Schumacher went in the opposite direction and took design simplicity and ease of maintenance to a
new level. We marveled at the “two screws to remove the diff” and other innovations on the Mi3
and thought things couldn’t get any easier than that. Well, the Mi4LP proved us wrong. Easy
maintenance is just the beginning with the Mi4LP. The Schumacher engineering team’s constant
pursuit of touring-car perfection has led to more innovations and tweaks that increase durability and decrease lap times. Let’s tour the hardware and then turn it loose on the track to see if
simple equals fast.
