Fast Laps

Thunder Alley
GAS CHAMPS
The third annual Thunder Alley Gas Championships enjoyed 170+ entries and this year’s event was an international af- fair with drivers coming all the way from Spain, Bermuda and Canada. For those who don’t know, Thunder Alley is one of the
premier 1/8-scale off-road tracks in SoCal. Unlike most major events,
Thunder Alley owner and operator Rob Jackson decided to mix things
up a bit by putting a twist on the traditional IFMAR-qualifying format
and implemented moto-style qualifiers that went by laps and not time.
The big talk of the event was the track itself, built by Levi Jackson. Even
the top drivers such as Adam Drake, Ryan Cavalieri, Travis Amezcua,
and international attendee Daniel Vega found the track to be very challenging. In the end, it was the calm and collected Hot Bodies driver Ty
Tessmann who clinched both nitro pro class categories with his factory-supported D8 and D8T. On the electric side of things, Mugen’s Travis
Amezcua earned his victory by going two for two in his main events that
earned him the overall title.
