THE OPEN CLASSES
You don’t have to be invited to run at the Reedy Race of
Champions; there’s also an open 2WD and open 4WD
class that you can enter and join in on the fun. ;e
open 2WD and 4WD classes are run separately and the
winner of each class earns themselves and invitation to
the invite class at next year’s Reedy Race. ;e mains for
the open classes are a double A-main format.

Pro-Line released
updated versions
of its Bulldog
bodies for the
Team Associated
cars and unveiled
its cab-forward
body for the
Team Durango
buggies ran by
team driver,
Hupo Honigl.
A-1 of 2WD went to TLR’s Frank Root after he got out to
the front of the pack and stayed there for the duration
of the race. Team Associated’s Brent ;ielke put some
pressure on Root at times but
finished up with a respectable
second place. After a third place
finish in A-1, Team Associated’s
Chad Due had a stellar run in
A-2. He beat out ;eilke for the
round win which also gave him
the overall win in 2 WD buggy
and his spot in next year’s
invitational class.

4WD
Local racer and Team Associated factory driver, Josh
Numan displayed a commanding performance in
the 4WD open class. A-1 was easily won with a close
to 10-second margin over
teammates ;eilke, and Rob
Gillespie. Numan came out on
top in A-2 as well over another
teammate, Michael Schoettler,
clinching the overall with in the
open 4WD class and his spot in
next year’s invitational class.

;e Reedy Race of Champions is one race that should
never die. It is truly a racer’s race that the winner is
not the victor of one race, but the driver that could
consistently win many races across two di;erent
classes. Mike Reedy has left a legacy that will never
be forgotten and celebrated every year with this great
event.
