LI TE ON PRICE, NOT ON FUN!
;e first release in Team Associated’s new
“Qualifier Series” of sport-level RTRs is the
ProLite 4x4 short course truck, an all-new
platform that was built to be durable, easy
to use, and fun to drive. An all-new 2.4GHz
radio system is included, as is the Associated
XP SC1200 ESC and Reedy 550-SL motor
that also powers the SC10 4x4 RTR.
;e truck itself uses a center-mounted
driveshaft to provide full-time 4WD, unlike
the belt and pulley system of the SC10 4x4,
which is among its many features intended
to keep the ProLite 4x4 on the track and
o; of the workbench, while maintaining a
budget-friendly price that will help introduce
incoming hobbyists to the world of RC. Aaron
Waldron spent a day at Team Associated’s
private test track to drive the ProLite 4x4,
and you can check out the video and gallery
of photos at RCCar Action.com.
SPIED AT THE TRACK:
TEKNO RC’S NEW SCT 410!
After years of producing hop-up parts for
popular cars and trucks, Tekno RC’s first
complete kit made the brand’s biggest splash
yet; the EB48 was the first 1/8-scale electric
buggy designed specifically for brushless
electric power, competing against a field of
cars that share a little bit, or a lot, of their
platform with existing nitro platforms. After
the completion of the EB48, Tekno RC turned
toward the 4x4 short course class, which
blew up in popularity last year with no signs of
slowing down, using what was learned about
the process of producing a car kit to create the
SCT 410. Tekno RC founder Daniel Lewis not
only talked to us about the truck’s features, but
also allowed us to shoot a gallery of body-o;
photos that you’ll find only on RCCar Action.com

GRAB YOUR INDOOR TRACK
BY THE HANDLEBARS
Our spy cameras ran into AKA’s Gil Losi Jr. while racing at
the indoor o;-road track in San Diego, SDRC, and he let us
snap a couple of shots of the brand’s new Handlebar tire. ;e
Handlebar presents a departure from what has become the de
facto tread design used for indoor clay tracks, yet still features
angled bars on the side of the carcass for increased sidebite
with shorter center lugs to generate forward traction; Losi Jr.
explained that they wanted to create a tire that they knew
would work, while setting it apart from similar o;erings from
their competition. ;e Handlebar is the widest AKA o;ering
yet, which pushes out toward the maximum legal dimensions,
and will include a new foam insert to match. As of press time,
we had yet to hear when the tire would go into production or
if there would be any revisions, but you can check out our spy
shots on RCCar Action.com
