Day 3
We took a little extra time getting rolling as we decided to do a little exploring
on foot. The area around our campsite was full of incredible rock formations and
small lakes. After a few hours of hiking, we got rolling and made our way back to
Rubicon Springs to start the climb out. The only obstacle between us and a fairly
easy trek out to civilization was the world famous Cadillac Hill. This hill is no
joke; it was littered with boulders half the size of the full-size Jeep, all of
which had a layer of dirt on them to make them extra slippery. To make things even
more interesting, the weather decided to change to rain. The SCX10 Jeep was right
at home in these conditions, the Maxxis tires did work like never before, clawing
their way to the top of this hill. The full-size Jeep had to be driven with care
and finesse to make it out unscathed. Some of the off-camber portions of this trail
really got your heart pumping, as there is no room for error here. All of us
breathed a sigh of relief as we crested the top of Cadillac Hill and perched both
Jeeps up on the lookout point. After a quick photo op, we got back on the road and
worked our way down the not so tough trail for a few more miles to the Homewood
staging area. The SCX10 Jeep and full-size Jeep did a tremendous job tackling the
obstacles of the world Famous Rubicon trail this weekend. Neither Jeep experienced
a failure of any kind; good thing for us since we didn’t bring a single part or
tool with us! The end result was all about that little badge called “Trail Rated”
which our SCX10 earned with flying colors!
Axial has make its
mark in this hobby as
an industry leader in
the crawling and trail
segment and the SCX10
is without question the
flagship of its line. Adding
the licensing deals from
Jeep and many huge
names in the full-size
o;-road industry to its
award-winning 1/10
platform, Axial has taken
the SCX10 from the back
woods and thrust it into
the spotlight. Where
many may have settled to
just create a new trail rig
that looks very nice and
performs well, Axial took
theirs the extra mile (or
22 for those counting at
home) and insisted that
the SCX10 Jeep Wrangler
Unlimited Rubicon
not only handle in the
toughest of conditions,
but also capture the
essence of the Jeep
culture and provide the
best Jeep experience you
can get without the big
Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. To get all of its styling and performance features and to
fully understand the culture surrounding this wildly popular full-size vehicle, Axial
purchased a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and built it up for o;-roading. ;e
truck is owned by Axial VP Je; Johns and can be seen on display at trade shows
around the country.
