RIDE ONTH SCRATCH-BUILT RAT ROD
JOSH DU TTON ›› VALLEY VIEW, TX
Josh wowed us back in March with his ’ 32 Ford roadster, but his
second scratch-built rat rod is even wilder. Starting with the
3D-printed chopped-truck cab from Ossum Designs (aka Jason
Suter, whose own ’ 32 you saw in the November 2016 issue),
Josh set about welding up his own custom chassis out of
1/2-inch square tubing. A CNC’d dropped axle front for Tamiya
trucks slams it into the weeds, and it’s held in place with
modified RC4 WD links and inverted leaf springs. ;e rear is an
RC4WD Yota II axle with custom airbag suspension. ;e fuel
tank is made out of copper pipe. ;e unique turbodiesel engine
is a diecast piece brazed into the frame, while actual power
comes from a 2200Kv brushless system through an RC4WD
Disruptor transmission—great for burnouts! Josh documented
the entire build on RC Everyday’s You Tube channel.
