A 3-gear transmission is the simplest, most durable way to
turn rpm into torque, which is why so many cars and trucks use
one. ;e Jumpshot’s top gear is metal, and spins plastic idler
and di;erential gears. Inside the di; case, you’ll find straight-cut
planetary gears instead of the usual bevel gears. Di; action feels
the same as any gear di;; it’s just another way to configure a
di;erential. Ball bearings are used throughout, and upgrading to
brushless power down the road should be no problem for this
gearbox, especially if you’re using the slipper clutch properly.
15-Turn Brushed Power
Brushed power is expected on an econo truck, but
HPI doesn’t skimp. ;e motor is a 15-turn Firebolt
unit that’s well proven in other HPI models, and it’s
good for 24mph with the Jumpshot’s supplied 6-cell
NiMH battery. ;rottle control comes from a waterproof
speed control, which uses movable jumper plugs to set
throttle mode (forward/brake/reverse, forward/brake, or
forward/reverse) and to switch low-voltage detection on
(for LiPo packs) and o; (for the included NiMH).
;e Jumpshot wears a set
of attractive all-terrain tires
and accepts standard short-course wheels.
HPI supplies a 2000m Ah NiMH
battery, wall charger, and AA
batteries for the transmitter.
