PROJECT: SRB Beach Buggy |
;is was the first James Knight build to get
a feature in RCCA, and it’s a beauty. James
really piled on the 3D-printed details for this
masterpiece—even the body is made out of
printed parts. James is a whiz at designing his
own gear in Rhino 3D and a master modeler in
the “old-school” ways too. Sweet build.
PROJECT: Scorched Earth
Tamiya Sand Scorcher | July 2015
We revved up for the release of Mad Max: Fury
Road with three Road Warrior–inspired builds.
;e star car was James Knight’s wild battle
Beetle, complete with two gunners! You can
see more of James’s work in this issue, with his
beautiful D90 build. First-class craftsmanship,
as al ways.
Bandit VXL |

to hold those gorgeous
drag slicks, but that stance is just perfect.
A custom-cut aluminum chassis gives
the rad ride its extra-long wheelbase, and
the machined-aluminum Weld wheels are
T-rick. Looks factory! PROJECT: Trail-Crusher Camaro |
Rejected title for this project: “Mullet Guy’s Dream Ride.” Easily
Kev’s red-neckiest build to date, the lifted and blown Camaro
is a call to your inner hillbilly (or outer hillbilly—it’s all good). ;e

PROJECT: Modern Tamiya Monster Beetle | April 2016
Resident monster maker Kevin Hetmanski put together this take on Tamiya’s classic
bug-truck with a “what if” theme—as in, what if Tamiya updated the Monster Beetle
as a Clod Buster–based model? We’d buy one of these as a kit in a hot minute.
